Spokes for Hope offers free lunch for Duncan children ages 0 to 18 during the summer school vacation. 2018 was our sixth and most successful summer yet! Thanks to a grant and a great level of local support, we were able to continue door to door meal delivery. Over 6,875 meals were prepped by local volunteers and delivered to children over an eight week period. Spokes for Hope can also provide a method of staying “linked” to our Link ONE kids during the summer months when they still need love and encouragement, along with a daily meal. We continue to raise funds in order to provide more meals next summer, below are a few ways you can partner with Spokes for Hope.
A gift of $50 will provide a local student with meals 4 days per week for 4 weeks.
Your gift of $50 in celebration of our 5th year of summer feeding will help to support our efforts to more than double the number of meals we can serve this summer. Tap here to give through PayPal.
A gift of $100 will provide a local student with meals 4 days per week for 8 weeks.
Spokes for Hope is a summer feeding program providing free lunch for children up to age 18 during summer months when school is not in session. Spokes for Hope is made possible through some valuable partnerships:
Your Gift will provide food we can serve outside the USDA regulated sites. Children in Duncan often have a difficult time with having transportation to one of our sites for a hot meal. LOCAL FUNDING will provide food we can deliver door to door to families who need it most.
Manpower comes largely from church youth groups in the Duncan area. Youth and their adult sponsors prepare meals for daily distribution, and have an opportunity to interact with the children who visit our feeding sites.
Distribution sites across Duncan take many forms. We partner with churches, the City of Duncan for use of park facilities, and have also used outdoor school facilities. We are always looking for sites which will allow us to feed as many children as possible.
If you would like to volunteer to serve during Spokes for Hope, send us a message through the volunteer page.
